John Hammond

John Hammond is a patent agent licensed to practice in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and a licensed Professional Engineer in New York State. He has more than 23 years of work experience in product conception, product design, industrial research and development, and manufacturing.

20170919 JH smile2 cropped SM_25Mr. Hammond holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from SUNY Geneseo, and a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rochester.

He has previously held the positions of Process Engineer, Project Manager, and Principal Engineer at Xerox Corporation and at Optimation Technology Inc. These positions have included responsibilities for the invention, design, build, and implementation of new processes and apparatus for manufacturing of thin film photoconductor materials and devices, high purity fluid metering and fluid filtration, and fluid flow visualization and flow image analysis. While employed at Xerox, he held the position of Industrial Fellow at the Center for Interfacial Engineering at the University of Minnesota.

He is a co-author of technical papers on thin film coating and flow visualization, and an inventor on 28 United States patents in such fields as material handling, thin film coating, fluid metering, fluid flow visualization, and consumer products.

Mr. Hammond is a co-founder of PatentEducation.com and the founder and co-author at TheLimitedMonopoly.com, a website providing “hands on” practical patent information directed to engineers scientists, and technology managers, and co-author of a monthly column appearing in The Rochester Engineer.

Mr. Hammond has presented numerous lectures on patents, inventions, and the patenting process to audiences at the Rochester Engineering Society, High Technology of Rochester, The NYS Society of Professional Engineers, and the Inventors’ Society of Western New York.

He is also an instructor of several patent-related seminars that are approved to meet continuing education requirements for Professional Engineers in New York State.
